Vladimir Putin approved a list of instructions following the December 2, 2016 joint meeting of the Council for Culture and Art and the Council on the Russian Language.

The Culture Ministry and public organisations concerned with protecting cultural heritage are to provide state protection and maintenance of the cultural landmarks of Russia’s ethnic groups, to monitor and supervise the preservation of cultural heritage and to improve the legal framework and law enforcement practice in this area.
