Law ratifying Second Protocol On Amending the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation

August 2, 2019

Vladimir Putin signed the Federal Law On the Ratification of the Second Protocol On Amending the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation dated October 7, 2002.

The Second Protocol On Amending the Charter of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation dated October 7, 2002 was signed in Astana on November 8, 2018.

The Protocol recognises the constitutional reform in the Republic of Armenia, under which the country converted to a parliamentary government on April 9, 2018. As a result, the Prime Minister of Armenia, who also presides over the Armenian Security Council, replaced the President of Armenia as the Commander-in-Chief of Armenia’s Armed Forces.

The ratification of the Protocol will further promote cooperation between the CSTO member states.
