Law ratifying Russian-Abkhazian agreement on provision of medicines to certain groups of Russian citizens in Abkhazia

February 5, 2018

The President signed the Federal Law On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia on Cooperation in the Provision of Medicines and Medical Goods to Certain Groups of Russian Citizens who Permanently Reside in the Republic of Abkhazia.

This agreement was signed to ensure the implementation of the international commitments Russia undertook under the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia on Alliance and Strategic Partnership.

Acting in accordance with this agreement and the register of Russian citizens permanently residing in the Republic of Abkhazia who have the right to receive medicines and medical goods, the Russian authorities will provide the necessary funds to Abkhazia and will monitor their disposal by the Abkhazian authorities towards the fulfilment of this agreement.

The agreement will expire on December 31, 2019, but it can be extended with the signing of an additional agreement.

The annual financial assistance to Abkhazia under this agreement amounts to 50 million rubles.
