Greetings on Artist’s Day

January 17, 2026

Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to members of Russia’s artistic community on Artist’s Day, celebrated in Russia for the first time.

The message reads, in part:

“Today we honour the outstanding representatives of our country’s artistic community – those who devote their lives, talent, and creative energy to theatre, cinema, variety entertainment, and circus arts. Through their inspired and committed work, they make an invaluable contribution to preserving our unique historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage, strengthening the traditions of selfless dedication and sincere service to people, which are passed down from generation to generation. We bow our heads in remembrance of the remarkable performers and actors who fought on the frontlines during the Great Patriotic War, performed at the most dangerous spots with their concert teams, and entertained the wounded in hospitals. And, of course, special words of heartfelt gratitude are due to those who support our heroes today during the special military operation.”

Artist’s Day is timed to coincide with the birthday of Konstantin Stanislavsky, an outstanding theatre director, actor, teacher, and the creator of the acting methodology known as Stanislavsky’s system.
