Vladimir Putin sent greetings to the residents of Naberezhnye Chelny and Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov on the city’s 400th anniversary.
The message reads, in part:
“You are rightfully proud of your hometown, which has grown from a small settlement on the banks of the Kama River into one of Russia’s largest industrial centres. You take pride in the achievements of your fellow residents, both in times of peace and in defence of the country, as well as in the traditions of patriotism, friendship, interethnic harmony and mutual understanding passed down from generation to generation. Today, the natives of the city stand shoulder to shoulder with their comrades in defending the Fatherland during the special military operation, while also contributing to the development of Russia’s economy, science, and culture.
A special chapter in the history of Naberezhnye Chelny, the Republic of Tatarstan and the country as a whole is, of course, associated with the construction of the legendary KAMAZ, a true industrial giant. Its vehicles are widely used in construction, housing and utilities, industry and agriculture, and make up a significant part of the Russian Armed Forces’ vehicle fleet.
I know that Naberezhnye Chelny is implementing important initiatives in high-tech manufacturing, social infrastructure, transport, environmental protection and tourism, as well as education and healthcare. Much-needed programmes to improve courtyards, streets, parks and other public spaces are also being carried out with due regard for the views of local residents.
I wish you every success in accomplishing these ambitious tasks and all the very best.”
