Greetings on Orthodox Easter

April 12, 2026

Vladimir Putin sent greetings to Orthodox Christians and all Russian citizens celebrating Easter Sunday.

The message reads, in part:

“The great holiday of Easter fills the hearts of millions with genuine joy and faith in the triumph of life, as well as in the enduring power of love, goodness, and justice. It brings us together around centuries-old traditions of our forefathers and the enduring spiritual and moral values and ideals.

The Russian Orthodox Church, along with other Christian denominations, plays an immense constructive role in preserving our vast historical and cultural heritage, upholding family values, and educating younger generations. Religious organisations carry out extensive and essential work to foster cooperation with government authorities, promote interreligious and interethnic harmony in Russia, and support participants in the special military operation and their families. These important and multifaceted efforts deserve the highest recognition.”

Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin attended the Easter vigil at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. The divine service was led by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
