Telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu

July 30, 2015

Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu at the initiative of the Israeli side.

The two leaders had a comprehensive discussion on the situation in the Middle East. The President of Russia stressed the need for joint efforts by all parties concerned to combat the threats from the Islamic State terrorist group.

In the context of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran’s nuclear programme, adopted in Vienna on July 14, 2015 and the concern expressed by Mr Netanyahu in this connection, Vladimir Putin stressed that the agreements reached, supported by the UN Security Council Resolution of July 20, 2015, envisage reliable guarantees of the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear programme. The Russian President expressed confidence that the successful implementation of the Action Plan will strengthen the nuclear non-proliferation regime and have a positive impact on security and stability in the Middle East.

When discussing bilateral issues, the two leaders voiced their determination to further develop the entire range of Russian-Israeli cooperation.

Vladimir Putin and Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to continue their contacts.
