Vladimir Putin sent a message to Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany Joachim Gauck and Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Merkel, congratulating them on their national holiday, the Day of German Unity.
The message of congratulations from the President of Russia reads, in part:
“The unification of Germany a quarter of a century ago signalled the end of the Cold War in Europe and opened up a new chapter in the history of relations between our two countries.”
The Russian Head of State highly assessed Russian-German relations that have reached the level of strategic partnership over the years since Germany’s unification.
Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that in the current complicated international situation it is very important not to allow any alienation and to retain the positive cooperation potential that has been accumulated over the years.
