WorldSkills Russia Finals

May 27, 2016, Moscow

Vladimir Putin attended the finals of the 4th WorldSkills Russia Competition.

The President toured the sites of the CNC turning and milling, mechatronics, mobile robotics and welding competitions and talked to the finalists. The competitions are held in two age groups: juniors aged 10–17 and young professionals aged 18–22.

* * *

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Good afternoon. Competitions in 99 skills are being held here, and 50 of them are among those in top demand on the labour market, which means that these are highly promising trades.

Besides, our colleagues have told us about competitions in promising trades that are only held in Russia, but not internationally. Interest in blue-collar jobs has grown rapidly over the past four years, and I share this interest.

Remark: Come visit us again,Mr President.

Vladimir Putin: Many things here look like they are from a sci-fi film. And the people working are very young.

I wish all of you success, including at the upcoming competitions in the United Arab Emirates and later in Kazan in 2019.

Good luck!

Remark: Thank you very much.
