Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron.
Mr Putin congratulated Mr Macron on his official inauguration as French president and on the new government’s formation.
The two presidents expressed a mutual desire to develop the traditionally friendly ties between the two countries in politics, trade, the economy, cultural, humanitarian and other sectors.
They also affirmed their desire to work together on current international and regional issues, including the fight against terrorism. In particular, they underscored the importance of continued cooperation within the Normandy format to resolve Ukraine’s internal conflict on the basis of the Minsk Agreements.
Mr Putin and Mr Macron also discussed possibilities for upcoming personal contacts.
