Vladimir Putin congratulated theater and film director, producer Andrei Konchalovsky on his 80th birthday.
The message of congratulations reads, in part:
“Being an endlessly talented and committed person, you have remarkably unlocked your artistic potential, reached the veritable peak of your mastery. Your directorial and screenwriting works, notable for their strong psychological logic and extremely acute sense of the era, always become a huge event in the international arts.”
Andrei Konchalovsky is a Russian and US film director and screenwriter, producer, public figure and politician.
He has written more than 30 screenplays, shot 27 films as a director, staged 8 theatre performances, including five operas, several mass performances, and has published six books and more than 100 op-ed articles.
Mr Konchalovsky is the National Artist of the RSFSR, President of the Nika Film Academy, two-time winner of the Silver Lion award of the Venice Film Festival.
