Vladimir Putin congratulated Sakhalin residents on the 70th anniversary of the region’s establishment.
The message reads, in part:
“During this time, a reliable foundation for developing the unique natural resources of the region has been laid, cities and villages have been built, social and transport infrastructure facilities have been put into operation.
These results were achieved through the creative efforts of several generations of your predecessors – builders, workers, engineers, and healthcare, culture and education professionals.
It is gratifying that in recent years the region has created a new energy for growth. It is creating conditions to attract major investments and implementing ambitious projects, one of which is the launch of a powerful industrial complex for the production of liquefied natural gas. All this contributes to the development of the region, improving the quality of people's lives and strengthening our country's position in the Asia-Pacific region.
I am confident that your initiative, sincere love for your native land and judicious approach to its riches will allow you to continue to achieve your goals.”
