Greetings to participants and guests of the event marking the 110th anniversary of the Imperial Russian Military-Historical Society

November 18, 2017

Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to participants and guests of the event in St Petersburg marking the 110th anniversary of the Imperial Russian Military-Historical Society.

The message reads, in part:

“Established in 1907, the Society has united educated and enthusiastic people who possess a sincere love for their Fatherland around its noble tasks and goals. It has made a considerable contribution to the study of Russia’s battle chronicles, promoting historical knowledge and developing the study of local history. It has launched search and archaeological studies focusing on battlefields, it has founding military-historical museums and collections.

It is gratifying that the Russian Military-Historical Society, preserving the bond of epochs and generations, is carrying on this high mission. Its members, people of all ages and trades, conduct very significant and needed work aimed at preserving the memory of the heroic deeds of our fathers and grandfathers, bringing up young people based on values of patriotism, nationhood and respect for every page of our nation’s history. And it is certainly important to constantly focus on serious scientific work, to resolutely counter any attempts to falsify history.”
