Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the participants and guests of the Second International Jigoro Kano Judo Tournament in Vladivostok.
The message reads, in part:
“I am pleased that your tournament is becoming a tradition and that the best junior judokas from Russia, Japan, China and Mongolia are once again meeting in Vladivostok.
They are united by their devotion to an active and healthy way of life, their will, the character of true champions, their deep understanding of the philosophy of the “gentle way” and above all their ambition to defend their country’s honour at this prestigious competition.
I am confident that the tournament will be held at a high level, become a good platform to hone young people’s talents and further promote judo, which is one of the most popular and spectacular combat sports.”
