Greetings on the 100th anniversary of the Central Armed Forces Museum

December 19, 2019

Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to participants in the gala event marking the 100th anniversary of the Central Armed Forces Museum, the museum’s staff and veterans.

The message reads, in part:

“The museum, which first opened in 1919, is marking its anniversary as a large educational, cultural and academic centre, known far beyond our country. Its richest collections include unique archival materials, film and photo documents, weapons and military equipment describing the key stages in the establishment and development of the Armed Forces. And, of course, military decorations, personal belongings and items from the front that have been carefully preserved in the most important section of the exhibition. They show the heroism, courage and valour of Red Army soldiers and officers during the Great Patriotic War.

I want to note with satisfaction the creative and meticulous work of the museum’s employees, who know and sincerely love their job. They constantly focus on popular research and exhibition activities, implement large-scale patriotic, educational and information projects and introduce children and youth to our historical heritage.”
