Vladimir Putin congratulated the faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate students and alumni of the Economic Development Ministry’s Russian Foreign Trade Academy on its 95th anniversary.
The message reads, in part:
“Founded in 1931 at the initiative of Anastas Mikoyan, the academy undertook a vital mission to train foreign trade specialists to effectively assert our state’s interests on the international stage. Generations of talented teachers and mentors – dedicated, proactive individuals truly passionate about their work – have transformed the institution into one of the country’s largest and most prestigious educational centres.
It is heartening to see that the Academy remains true to its teaching, research and educational traditions. Combining the best of Russian higher education with advanced teaching methods, it conducts advanced research into today’s global trends and challenges. As a result, your graduates go on to fulfil their potential in government, business and many other fields, serving their country with distinction.
I am confident that a deep respect for the legacy of those who came before you, coupled with a desire to expand professional and creative horizons, will enable the academy to continue contributing to Russia’s steady development, strengthening its economic sovereignty and international ties.”
