The greetings to President of Azerbaijan Ilkham Aliyev say that a solid foundation for the continued development of Russian-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership and friendship among the two nations was created in the outgoing year.

The greetings to President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan note, in part, the multifaceted productive efforts in 2004 to develop Russian-Armenian relations based on centuries of friendship and strategic partnership and express confidence that the two states will continue to strengthen their close interaction in the upcoming year.

President Putin stressed in the greetings to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko that the planned steps towards integration and development of the Union State would certainly promote the creation of a new quality to bilateral cooperation and socio-economic development of the two states.

Addressing President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili, the head of the Russian state expressed his conviction that the traditions of centuries of friendship and neighbourliness between the Russian and Georgian people were a reliable guarantee of the development of bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect, trust, and striving for productive cooperation.

In the greetings to President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, Mr Putin notes with satisfaction that 2004 was a successful year for Russian-Kazakh relations and expresses his confidence that the traditional ties of friendship and neighbourliness and allied relations would continue to serve the benefit of the people of Russia and Kazakhstan.

President Putin highly assessed the results of Russia-Kyrgyzstan interaction in 2004 in his greetings to President Askar Akayev. He expressed confidence that the allied relations of strategic partnership will be facilitated to the benefit of the Russian and Kyrgyz people in the interests of stability and security in Central Asia.

In his greetings to President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin, President Putin expressed the belief that the development of bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect, trust and mutual striving for effective multifaceted cooperation suit the long-term goals of development in Russia and Moldova. He also expressed the hope that Russian-Moldovan ties would have positive dynamics.

The outgoing year was very significant and productive for Russia and Germany, say the presidential greetings to President of Germany Horst Kohler.

Vladimir Putin notes with satisfaction in his address to Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder that in 2004 the concerted efforts of the two countries boosted the multifaceted Russian-German bilateral cooperation and their joint work on the international scene. In his address to President of India Abdul Kalam, the Russian head of state expressed the conviction that the strengthening of strategic Russian-Indian partnership meets the fundamental interests of the two countries and is facilitating the creation of a more balanced, democratic and safe world.

The greetings to Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh read that the outgoing year was noted for a dynamic development of the multifaceted and mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and India. Mr Putin expresses his confidence that the agreements reached during the recent Russian-Indian summit will reinforce positive trends in bilateral relations and encourage more productive use of the unique potential of this partnership.

We are confident that the continued political dialogue between Russia and Italy will allow us to expand the sphere of interaction between our countries and to strengthen the relations of friendship between our people, says the presidential address to President of Italy Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.

In his greetings to Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi, Mr Putin expresses gratitude for the confident dialogue and constructive approach that are facilitating the dynamic development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Italy. Expressing satisfaction with bilateral interaction in 2004, the Russian President notes that the recent meetings in Moscow confirm the common resolve of the two states to work jointly to find answers to modern challenges in the interests of stronger stability and cooperation in Europe and the world.

The address to Her Excellency the Right Honorable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, praises her great contribution to the strengthening of friendship and understanding between the two countries and nations.

We are satisfied with the results of the recent talks in Moscow, which confirmed the mutual desire to develop cooperation between Russia and Canada, run the greetings from President Vladimir Putin to Prime Minister of Canada Paul Martin. We note with satisfaction that the sincere and confident relations between the leaders of Russia and China continue to play a key part in the development of bilateral cooperation in all spheres.

In his greetings to President of the USA George W. Bush, President Vladimir Putin stresses that in 2004 the two countries confirmed their desire to strengthen and expand partner relations. We will have much to do in 2005, notes Mr Putin, to deepen the multifaceted bilateral interaction in the interests of promoting international security and stability, stepping up the struggle against the global terrorist threat, and developing trade and economic ties and contacts between our societies and people.

The presidential greetings to President of France Jacques Chirac praise the results of 2004, which was very important for Russian-French relations. Vladimir Putin expresses the hope that 2005 will see further development of bilateral partnership in the interests of the two countries and security and stability in Europe and the world.

The Russian head of state sent warm season’s greetings to Emperor Akihito of Japan.

In his address to Prime Minister of Japan Junichiro Koizumi, Mr Putin expresses sincere satisfaction with the fact that joint efforts in the outgoing year boosted bilateral relations and cooperation. The Russian President expresses the conviction that the coming year 2005, when the two countries will mark 150 years since the establishment of Russian-Japanese interstate relations, will be noted for new substantial achievements in the development of bilateral cooperation.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin also sent greetings to the heads of state and government of other states.
