Nikolai Pereslegin, winner of the 2018 Presidential Prize for Young Cultural Professionals
The prize has been awarded for his contribution to the development of Russian architecture and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Nikolai Pereslegin, one of the most talented young architects of the last decade, worked to preserve Moscow’s cultural heritage for several years after his graduation from the Moscow Architectural Institute. He took part in the development and approval of the One Ruble Per Metre city programme designed to attract private investment to renovate historical buildings as well as in the launch of the Going Out into the City tour project of the Moscow Government that provided access to Moscow architectural landmarks previously closed to the public.
The Kleinewelt Architekten Bureau, created by Nikolai Pereslegin, designs unique buildings that combine modern materials with consideration for historical heritage and the urban environment.
Valentin Uryupin, winner of the 2018 Presidential Prize for Young Cultural Professionals
The prize has been awarded for his contribution to the development of Russian music art.
Valentin Uryupin is the artistic director and chief conductor of the Rostov Academic Symphony Orchestra, a virtuoso clarinet player, one of the most notable young conductors in Russia and winner of prestigious international contests for musicians and conductors.
Over three years his Rostov Academic Symphony Orchestra has become one of the most popular music companies in the region. Thanks to his active and extensive efforts, the Rostov Philharmonic Hall is turning into the music centre of the Don Region. The Entire Family Goes to the Concert Hall project introduces live symphonic music to people living in remote villages, and the Let’s Fly Together charity programme concerts are organised for people with disabilities. The Bridge Art Festival has been held in Rostov since 2018 on Valentin Uryupin’s initiative.
Sergei Chekhov, winner of the 2018 Presidential Prize for Young Cultural Professionals
The prize has been awarded for creative development of the Russian theatre school.
Sergei Chekhov is one of the most interesting and popular Russian theatre directors of his generation. He organised the Hero.21 laboratory for young directors and founded the Asphalt-Theatre theatrical laboratory in Novosibirsk. He has been invited to produce performances in Moscow, Novosibirsk, Novokuznetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Nyagan, Taganrog and Pskov. He successfully combines modern and experimental approaches and the traditions and achievements of Russian theatre with respect for the actor’s creative personality and careful and thoughtful vision.
