The President submitted to the State Duma draft federal law On Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.
The draft law is aimed at clarifying procedures for withdrawing or seizing electronic data carriers during a criminal investigation, especially for economic crimes, including computer units, servers, notebooks, memory cards, which contain information on the business entities’ activities, and specifies the procedures for returning such electronic data carriers and/or copying the information they contain.
Implementation of this draft law will offer additional protection of entrepreneurs’ rights and allow business entities to continue their operations in cases where electronic data carriers are withdrawn or seized as part of the criminal investigation.
