Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Amendments to Article 178 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.
The federal law is aimed at improving the efficiency of criminal investigations and checks of crime reports in cases involving unidentified bodies.
Article 178 of the Criminal Procedure Code has been supplemented with a provision under which all unidentified bodies, in addition to being photographed and fingerprinted, are subject to compulsory registration in the state DNA databank.
The procedure for such registration is to be specified by the Government of the Russian Federation.
