Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma for examination draft Federal Law On Elections of Deputies to the Russian Federation State Duma.
Under the draft law’s provisions, State Duma elections would be based on a mixed electoral system, with half of the deputies elected in single-seat electoral districts, and the other half coming from federal electoral districts in proportion to the share of votes given to federal party lists.
The President recalled at the same time an earlier draft law On Elections to the Russian Federation State Duma, which had been submitted to the State Duma for examination.
