Vladimir Putin signed the Federal Law On Amending Article 4 of the Federal Law On the Circulation of Medicines.
The Federal Law On the Circulation of Medicines has been amended to include the notion of strategic medicines, which are expected to include medications that are necessary to meet priority healthcare needs for preventing and treating diseases, including those that are prevalent in the morbidity structure in the Russian Federation. These medicines must be produced in the territory of the Russian Federation.
The list of such medicines and the procedure and criteria for compiling it will be approved by the Government of the Russian Federation. The objective is to ensure the pharmaceutical independence of the Russian Federation through the full-cycle domestic production of medicines that are in the highest demand in the healthcare sector.
