Dmitry Medvedev signed executive orders granting pardons to 29 Russian citizens sentenced under various articles of the Russian Federation Criminal Code to short terms of imprisonment of 1 to 3 years for crimes that did not involve violence.
Various circumstances were taken into account in granting the pardons, such as whether the convicted person voluntarily turned themselves over to the police, compensation of victims’ financial losses, positive behaviour while in prison, and the opinion of regional pardons commissions and regional governors’ recommendations.
