Vladimir Putin received President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, who is in Russia on a working visit, at his Novo-Ogaryovo residence.
The two leaders discussed the state and prospects of their bilateral partnership, as well as issues in foreign policy cooperation.
The Joint Statement by the President of the Russian Federation and the President of the Republic of Armenia and the Joint Statement Following the Visit of the President of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation were signed following the meeting.
The first document states, in part, that Serzh Sargsyan announced Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union, to take the necessary practical steps required to achieve this and to subsequently participate in the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Mr Putin and Mr Sargsyan also made a statement to the press.
