Vladimir Putin sent a message of congratulations to President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on the 20th anniversary of the Russian-Armenian Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance.
The President of Russia noted in his message about the long and rich history of Russian-Armenian relations, which have always been based on the firm ties of friendship and mutual respect between the Russian and Armenian people.
“The 1997 Treaty marked a new period in interstate relations between Russia and Armenia. The signing of this crucial document created conditions for promoting political dialogue and building up bilateral cooperation in trade, the economy, science, technology, culture and other areas,” Vladimir Putin wrote in his message.
Mr Putin praised the development of Russian-Armenian relations, which have reached the stage of allied relations over the past two decades. Moscow and Yerevan are cooperating within the framework of Eurasian integration processes and are coordinating their efforts towards bringing about regional security and stability.
The President of Russia reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to continue working to build up the entire package of Russian-Armenian ties in the interests of the two fraternal peoples.
