Vladimir Putin took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to Soviet soldiers who fell in the liberation of Austria from Nazism. The memorial is located on Schwarzenbergplatz in central Vienna.
The President also spoke with Peter Sixl, who is actively engaged in historical research to preserve the memory of the war years and is the author of the Book of Memory: Soviet Citizens killed in Austria during World War II and their Burial Sites.
The book brings together the names of around 60,000 Soviet citizens, soldiers, prisoners of war, and people sent into forced labour, buried in Austria.
