Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Heinz Fischer on his reelection as President of Austria.
The telegram reads, in part:
“It is largely thanks to your personal active and interested participation that we have firmly established an atmosphere of good-neighbourliness and partnership between our two countries. Russian-Austrian relations are characterized by constructive and open political contacts, high levels of cooperation in all areas, and productive teamwork within international organisations.
In order to continue and deepen the intensive political dialogue between our countries’ leadership and further develop our bilateral ties, I would like to invite you to make an official visit to the Russian Federation. The timing can be agreed on via diplomatic channels.”
