Dmitry Medvedev sent a message of congratulations to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Azerbaijan's national holiday, Republic Day.
The message reads, in part:
”Azerbaijan exemplifies visible progress in state construction, the implementation of far-reaching economic and social reforms, and strengthening its position on the international stage. It is important that during this process much attention continues to be paid to preserving the Republic's unique rich culture and national traditions.
Based on the principles of good-neighbourliness and mutual trust, Russian-Azerbaijani relations can be described as a high-level strategic partnership. This is attested to by the intensity and productive nature of our contacts, the effective implementation of our major joint projects in various fields, and our close cooperation in dealing with topical regional problems. I look forward to continuing our constructive exchange in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
I am confident that the development of rich multifaceted ties between our countries in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres is in the fundamental interests of our nations, as well as promotes stability and security in Transcaucasia.“
