Dmitry Medvedev congratulated President of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov on the Day of Liberation from the Ottoman Yoke, the country’s national holiday.
The message reads, in part:
“The centuries-old ties between the Russian and Bulgarian peoples, cemented by their joint struggle for Bulgaria’s freedom and independence, create a solid foundation for the continued development of the multifaceted cooperation between our two countries. I am sure that the Days of Russia that will take place in Bulgaria this year will facilitate our people’s spiritual rapprochement and create a positive climate for deepening our mutually beneficial partnership.”
