Telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov

Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov.

The two leaders expressed their satisfaction with the close and frequent contacts between Russia and Bulgaria at all levels, and stressed the importance of the recent visit by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to Bulgaria.

Mr Putin and Mr Borisov had a constructive exchange of views on a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda, including trade and economic cooperation. The two leaders especially stressed deepening their cooperation in the energy sector and examined the state of progress of construction of the Bulgarian leg of the South Stream gas pipeline, which is a particularly important project for both countries.

Both leaders expressed their desire to continue developing the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries.

Mr Putin and Mr Borisov also discussed a number of current issues on the international agenda.
