Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Bahrain on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons.
The agreement drafted with due consideration of modern contractual practice, Russian Federation laws and the relevant international standards was signed in Moscow on December 15, 2015, to develop the international legal framework for bilateral cooperation between Russia and Bahrain as regards the transfer of sentenced persons.
Under the agreement, the sides undertake, on a reciprocal basis and in accordance with the agreement’s provisions, to transfer persons sentenced to terms of imprisonment to continue their sentence in their home country. This will help to protect Russian citizens’ lawful rights and interests. The administering state ensures that a sentenced person continues to serve punishment in accordance with its legislation.
