Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva while the Brazilian special flight made a technical stop in Moscow on its way from China.
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva conveyed his impressions of the visit he had just made to the People's Republic of China, paying particular attention to the Joint Statement in support of the President of Russia's initiative on resuming direct talks between Russia and Ukraine on May 15 in Istanbul, adopted in Beijing. For his part, the President of Brazil intends to do everything possible so that the talks prove successful.
Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to the authorities of Brazil and China for their sincere willingness to contribute constructively to the search for solutions to the conflict.
In addition, the Brazilian leader thanked Vladimir Putin for the warm welcome during the official events marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The two leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to pursue the comprehensive development of the strategic partnership between Russia and Brazil, which have been given new momentum by the talks the presidents held in Moscow on May 9.
