The President submitted the Protocol on Amending the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus on Ensuring Equal Rights of citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus to Freedom of Movement and Choice of Place of Residence on Union State Member-States’ Territory of January 24, 2006, signed in Moscow on March 3, 2015, for ratification to the State Duma.
In particular, the amendments concern rules for the registration of Russian and Belarusian citizens in their place of residence and time frames for the relevant authorities to process applications for residency permits.
The preferential conditions stipulated by the Protocol are broader than those contained in the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union of May 29, 2014 and apply to all citizens of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, regardless of the purpose of entry.
