Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
Mr Putin congratulated Mr Lukashenko on his convincing victory in Belarus’ presidential election and said that the voting results reflected Mr Lukashenko’s broad public support.
The President said that Russia wants to continue its intensive dialogue and work together to develop bilateral relations in all areas and bolster cooperation in the Eurasian region’s integration organisations.
The two leaders also exchanged views on current international affairs, in particular, the situation in Syria.
Earlier, Mr Putin sent Mr Lukashenko a message of congratulations.
