Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on the occasion of the national holiday, Independence Day.
The message reads, in part:
“This date is connected with the liberation of Minsk from German Nazi invaders in 1944 and has a lasting meaning for Belarusians as well as for Russians. Our brotherly nations fought shoulder to shoulder and made a decisive contribution to the victory over Nazism.
Importantly, citizens of Russia and Belarus maintain and strengthen their ties of friendship and mutual assistance. Our countries are overcoming grave challenges and are standing up for their interests in the global arena by developing relations of strategic partnership and alliance.”
