Vladimir Putin congratulated guests and participants of the gala meeting devoted to the 60th anniversary of the Russia-China Friendship Association.
The message reads, in part:
“Established six decades ago, the Association was one of our country’s first friendship associations with another country.
The Association was there through almost the entire modern history of Russian-Chinese relations that have now reached the level of all-embracing trusting partnership and strategic cooperation. Since its early days, this channel of public diplomacy has been playing a crucial role in bilateral humanitarian cooperation, direct contacts between the regions of the Russian Federation and the provinces of the People’s Republic of China, brotherly ties between cities, and exchanges between various non-governmental organisations. Under the Association’s aegis, ambitious joint projects in culture, art, education, enlightenment, and sports are under way.
Most important of all, young people from both countries are actively joining in the Association’s projects. This inspires confidence that the good traditions of friendship, mutual understanding as well as good-neighbourliness will be upheld and promoted in the future.”
