Dmitry Medvedev took part in the opening ceremony of Russia Day at the 2010 World Expo.
Vice President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping joined the Russian leader at the opening of Russia Day at the 2010 World Expo.
A meeting took place between Vice President Xi Jinping of China and President of Russia, following which Mr Medvedev and Me Xi toured the Russian and Chinese pavilions and saw the exhibitions. Later Mr Medvedev answered questions from journalists.
The 2010 World Expo opened in Shanghai in May 2010 and will close at the end of October 2010.
Russia’s National Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo works under two mottos: New Russia: Cities and Citizens, and The Best City is the One Where Children Are Happy. There are four main exhibitions in the pavilion: New Technologies for Vital Activities, The City of the Future Through Children's Eyes, The City of Talents and rotating exhibitions by Russian regions. Over five million people have visited the pavilion since it opened.
