President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr President, friends, good afternoon. It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Moscow.

There is no need for me to describe our bilateral relations: Russia and Cyprus have long since had friendly and multifaceted ties.

I know that you have just had talks with the Russian Prime Minister. I am sure that you discussed specific cooperation matters, particularly in the economic sphere. For my part, I am ready to not only add my support to these agreements but also to discuss any other matters of mutual interest.

President of The Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades (re-translated): Thank you very much, Mr President.

Mr President, it is a great pleasure to be here today at your invitation, and also to have these centuries-old ties between our nations, which add much to the relations between our governments and states.

My visit comes at a time that we could call decisive in terms of the situation in international relations. The least that I could do at this difficult moment is to come to Russia to say that despite the various events and factors that we see, our relations will continue to develop. I also want to say that our strategic cooperation is not directed against any other country. 

Let me take this occasion too to invite you to visit Cyprus as an official guest of our country.
