As earlier agreed, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
In response to the situation following the July 17 air disaster in Donetsk region, the two leaders stressed the need for all parties to the internal conflict in Ukraine to ensure the needed conditions and above all guarantee security for specialists’ work, so that an objective and independent international investigation can take place.
Mr Putin and Ms Merkel continued their discussion of the serious crisis in Ukraine and reiterated the urgent need to end the military operations and begin peaceful negotiations.
