Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel at the German side’s initiative.
The two leaders expressed concern over the exacerbating humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine. Vladimir Putin briefed Angela Merkel on the close cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross in implementing Russia’s initiative to provide humanitarian aid to the civilian population in the zone of the internal military conflict in Ukraine.
The parties continued their discussions of various formats of international assistance in the political resolution of the crisis in Ukraine.
