Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, President of the French Republic Francois Hollande and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
The leaders continued discussing the crisis situation in Ukraine, focusing on the need to fulfil all the provisions of the Package of Measures agreed upon in Minsk on February 12, 2015. They noted the importance of rigorously abiding by the ceasefire regime, continuing the process of removing heavy arms under supervision of the OSCE. A recommendation to the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to regularly provide public information on the course of implementing the Minsk Agreements was also expressed.
The politicians stressed the expediency of more actively involving the Red Cross International Committee in providing humanitarian assistance to Donbass residents.
The leaders agreed on further contacts in the Normandy Format at various levels, particularly in holding a meeting between foreign ministry representatives on March 6, 2015.
The heads of the four nations also exchanged views on a set of issues pertaining to Russian gas supplies to Ukraine.
