Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
The conversation focussed on ways of resolving the crisis in Ukraine. Both sides expressed interest in ensuring a stable ceasefire along the line of conflict and stressed that the only option was full compliance with the agreements reached in Minsk on February 12, 2015.
The discussion touched upon matters pertaining to a constitutional reform in Ukraine and the organisation of local elections in Donbass in line with the legislation approved by representatives of Donetsk and Lugansk. It was agreed to continue joint efforts within the Normandy format, including a meeting of foreign ministers in the next few days.
The two leaders also exchanged views on a number of bilateral issues.
The conversation was business-like and constructive.
