At Germany’s initiative, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
Mr Putin and Ms Merkel discussed the situation in Ukraine. Their particular focus was on the need for the parties to the internal conflict in Ukraine to respect and implement in full the Minsk agreements of February 12, 2015. They agreed to continue their political and diplomatic efforts to facilitate a settlement, working above all through the ‘Normandy format’ (Russia, Germany, France, and Ukraine), and through the OSCE.
