Vladimir Putin sent Germany’s President Joachim Gauck and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel a message, congratulating them on the national holiday, the Day of German Unity.
The President wrote in the message that the reunification of Germany opened a new chapter in the history of Russian-German relations, one marked by major achievements in the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas.
Vladimir Putin also underscored the importance of preserving the positive potential of Russian-German partnership in the current complicated international situation, and of continuing dialogue on key issues of bilateral relations and international politics in the interests of the people of Russia and Germany, and of Europe as a whole.
