Svetlana Medvedeva accompanied Dmitry Medvedev on a state visit by the Russian President to Denmark.
In Copenhagen, Ms Medvedeva visited the Rosenborg Castle, one of the Danish capital’s most impressive sights.
Crown Princess Mary of Denmark accompanied the First Lady on the tour of the castle, while Niels Knud Liebgott, director of the Royal Danish Collections at Rosenborg, explained its history.
The castle was built in 1710 as a residence of the Danish royal family but now serves as a museum of royal regalia and jewels.
Rosenborg is one of Copenhagen’s most attractive corners and the King’s Garden laid out there is one of the spots where the capital’s residents most like to take a stroll.
That evening, Dmitry and Svetlana Medvedev hosted a reception in honour of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Prince Consort Henrik.
After the reception, the Russian President and First Lady, together with the Danish royal family, attended a gala concert by Russian ballet dancers at Copenhagen’s Tivoli Concert Hall. Performers included soloists from Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre and St Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theatre.
