Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi over the tragic consequences of the terror attack in the Minya province.
In his message, the President stressed that the killing of pilgrims, including women and children, is yet another demonstration of the barbaric, inhuman nature of terrorism, and that the perpetrators and plotters of this atrocity must not escape retribution.
“In my recent conversation with Coptic Church leader Pope Tawadros II, he spoke about measures taken by Egyptian officials to maintain inter-faith peace in the country. I believe that the forces of terror will not intimidate the Egyptian people and divide the followers of different religions,” Vladimir Putin noted in his message.
The President confirmed that Russia will remain Egypt’s reliable ally in the fight against terrorism.
Vladimir Putin passed on his condolences to the victims’ families and friends and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
