Law ratifying Russia-Finland agreement on cooperation in icebreaker assistance in Baltic Sea

November 28, 2015

Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Finland on Cooperation and Interaction in Icebreaker Assistance in the Baltic Sea.

The agreement between the governments of Russia and Finland on cooperation in icebreaker assistance in the Baltic Sea, signed on September 15, 2014, regulates clearance procedures enabling Russian and Finnish icebreakers to operate in the two countries’ internal and territorial waters to assist vessels.

The Agreement establishes cooperation mechanisms between the relevant agencies (Russia’s Transport Ministry and Finland’s Transport and Communications Ministry) responsible for the implementation of the Agreement, as well as procedures for settling disputes arising from the Agreement’s interpretation or implementation.
