Vladimir Putin signed the Order On Ratification of the Protocol to the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Finland on the Lease by Finland of the Russian Part of the Saimaa Canal and the Surrounding Area and Navigation through the Saimaa Canal dated May 27, 2010.
The President accepted the Russian Federation Government's proposal to ratify the Protocol and ordered the Transport Ministry together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hold talks with the Finnish side and ratify the above Protocol on behalf of the Russian Federation.
