Law ratifying Russia-Finland agreement on sale of premises in St Petersburg

February 5, 2018

The President signed the Federal Law On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Finland on the Sale of Premises in St Petersburg to the Government of Finland.

The agreement was signed in Moscow on July 4, 2017.

Under the agreement, Russia sells to Finland the premises that are part of the House where economist Nikolai Danielson lived in 1890–1918, a cultural heritage site of regional significance.

Nikolai Danielson (1844–1918) was a Russian economist, populist, journalist and publisher, who translated Karl Marx’s Capital into Russian. His ancestors were from Finland.

The agreement establishes that Finland undertakes, in accordance with the legislation on the conservation, use and protection of the cultural heritage (monuments of history and culture) of the peoples of the Russian Federation, to comply with the requirements for the preservation, maintenance, use of and access to the said cultural heritage site.
