Vladimir Putin met with President of France Francois Hollande at the Elysee Palace.
The two presidents had substantial and constructive talks that lasted for more than ninety minutes. They exchanged views on the current situation in bilateral relations and their future prospects.
Looking at the issues on the international agenda, Mr Putin and Mr Hollande discussed in detail various matters to do with settling the crisis in Ukraine.
The Russian and French foreign ministers, Sergei Lavrov and Laurent Fabius, also participated in the meeting.
Mr Putin is in France to take part in events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy.
